NCSY TJJ BUS 10: Safed, Tiberias, and Dancing

Dear NCSY SUMMER TJJ BUS 10 Parents,

On Monday, we had our first opportunity to visit one of the holy cities of Israel, the city of Safed.  In the city we had the opportunity to enter different synagogues and and hear the rich history of the city, the the people, as well as the mystical aspects of Judaism.  We learned about the importance and value of greeting the Shabbat on every Friday night.  We also have the unique experience bumping into a ceremony celebrating the bar mitzvah of a boy named Aryeh.  We joined in dance and song along the promenade in the Old City of Safed.

We then traveled to the grave of Rabbi Akiva, one of the greatest stages in our history.  At the site, JR spoke of his personal connection to the Rabbi Akiva story and inspired many of the teens with his message.

Afterwards the teens had the opportunity to go shopping on the boardwalk in Tiberias before going to a grill house for dinner.

The night finished with an amazing, energy filled boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.
