On Thursday, the teens would we’re able to begin a process connecting I’m in a personal way to National tragedy. We began today visiting mount herzl, the cemetery for the founders of the state of Israel, its prime ministers, and of course the military.
We heard personal stories from our guide and guard as well as we learned about Theodore Herzl and Yitzhak Rabin.
It was especially meaningful for our Montreal crew when we had the privilege of hearing from Ari Fuld who was an officer with Jason Friedberg z”l, a Montrealer who volunteered and enlisted into the IDF and was killed during his time in service.
From Mount herzl we went to the Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem, where we going to wonderful guides who were able to enable the teens to relate to the horrific tragedy of the Holocaust.
One of the themes of the day was the ability to appreciate what was and understand what our response needs to be: to live and rebuild. After both of these places we went to the Ben Yehuda Street to go shopping to show what we have done and that we continue to live and prosper.
