Dear NCSY SUMMER TJJ BUS 10 Parents,
On Friday, the teens had the opportunity to experience what it was like living and fighting a rebellion underground. Crawling through the caves that were used during the Great Revolt against Rome, really allowed them to picture what it was like.
We then had a furry experience as we visited the son in law of the late Anne Samson, Rabbi Dr. Slifkin at his Biblical Museum of Natural History. The teens loved the on hands opportunity with the animals and learned about the animals mentioned throughout the Bible.
We returned to Ein Tzurim for Shabbat and it was beautiful. The pre-shabbat energy was amazing. My family joined us for the weekend and it was wonderful to see how the teens and my children connected.
We had the privilege to host the CEO of NCSY Canada, Rabbi Black, and his wife for Shabbat. Rabbi Black inspired the teens with an thought provoking talk as Shabbat came to a close. Speaking about how each action each individual does matters, Rabbi Black beautifully helped transition into our Tisha Bav programming.
Tisha Bav, the day of national tragedy for the Jews worldwide, was a powerful day for the teens filled with programming connecting the teens to our rich history, while empowering them to enrich our future. The teens left the programming of the night and morning with what to think about as they continued their day.
We reached Ketura, our Sunday night lodging for the evening and had an early curfew getting ready for a sunrise hike Monday morning.
Can’t wait!
