Hello TJJ parents,
I don’t know if you had a chance to see the Facebook page yet, but we were able to post some pics taken from Thursday and Friday in Jerusalem.
Our first Shabbat was truly amazing. We started in the old city of Jerusalem where we welcomed in shabbat at the Western Wall with three other TJJ buses and about 1500 others. The dancing, singing and Jewish unity were some of the highlights mentioned by the TJJers. They were in awe that they could dance with Jews that they had never met before, but still felt so connected and comfortable. We then had a lively and festive shabbat dinner together. We capped of the day with a great night sleep at the hotel.
We started shabbat with a breakfast introducing the TJJERS to Israel’s finest bakery delicacies. We then divided them into their summer learning groups and played some ice breakers and games. After lunch, the TJJers had time to relax and go on a walking tour of Jerusalem. Our bus was honored to have the head director of TJJ, Rabbi Goldfisher join us with a motivational speech in the fleeting moments of Shabbat. We ended Shabbat with a beautiful havdalah service and spent the night relaxing at a beautiful outdoor mall.
The TJJers are having a great time and mentioned how they are shocked how connected they already feel with each other after such a short period of time. We are really enjoying getting to know your children and looking forward to the rest of the summer with them.
